Life with Carlei
Life in the Hansen home has been pretty busy and fun the last month. Whitney loves Carlei so much and so do her parents! She is such a joy to have in our home. My mom was here when Carlei was born and then she left a few days later. I was home by myself during the day for a whole week. (Justin works during the day.) I was kinda nervous but it went really well. It was not as hard as I thought just because Carlei would sleep most of the day. Then my parents came back and the boys went hiking and the girls just had fun! We took the kids to the zoo and to visit Grandma and Grandpa Jensen. We made some home-made raspberry jam! So YUMMY!! After my parents left, we took the kids to the park and let Whitney play at the water park. Carlei loved being outside and Whitney had a blast at the park! Then one weekend we went to the Madison County Fair. Whitney has been watching the movie Spirit. She loves it. Then while we were at the fair we saw a buck-skin horse that looks just like Spirit! She loved it. Whitney is saying looks of words and loves her sister so much. When ever we go somewhere I always ask Whitney if we should leave Carlei there and she always says no. When I do try and leave her some where, Whitney starts crying until we go and get her. She just loves her sister. Well here are some pictures of our crazy 1st month of having Carlei in our lives!

Carlei Janice
She is here!! We love her so much already! She is just the perfect baby! She weighed in at 6lbs 14oz, 17.5in. long. Whitney and Carlei both had the same size head when they were both born...13.25in. Here are some pictures of our wonderful new addition!
Ok so I am just going to document the event. You can stop reading at anytime.
Justin and I were suppose to go to the hospital on Thursday, July 28th. The hospital called and said that they didn't have enough room for me to be induced that day. They scheduled us for Friday morning. Friday morning rolls around and they have room for us to come in so I can be induced. We show up and get all of the paper work filled out and signed, and get to my room. To my surprise, I have the same nurse that helped me when I delivered Whitney! Her name is Barbara and she is absolutely the best labor and delivery nurse ever! I get all dressed in my lovely gown and the doctor comes in. He checks me and I am dilated to 3cm and 70% effaced. He breaks my water and then I get my pit. started at 8:10am. By 11:50am, I am having regular contractions and back labor! How awesome...not. I call Barbara in and she checks me and I am 6cm and then I get my epidural finished at 12:15pm. Then at 1:40ish I was ready to push! The doctor was paged and he showed up about 5 minutes later. After 3 contractions, Carlei was born. She had the cord wrapped around her neck once and her cord was really short. Justin got to cut the cord again. Then they cleaned her up and handed her to me. She was perfect. The placenta was completely intact and healthy.
Whitney did not want anything to do with Carlei when she first met her but the next day when she came to the hospital and she just loved her! She kept giving her kisses and hugs. She loves to hold her and give Carlei her pacifier. We love having Carlei as part of our family! She is just lovely.
